Sometimes people feel the need to say things about your long hair which either don't make much sense or even seems insulting. One comment is about how much money you will take to cut your hair off. Granted this doesn't have to be delivered as an insult but often it is (grandmas do this a lot). I like to refer to the price set back in the 1980's by actress Bo Derek which was $1,000,000 to cut off her hair. Of course if you factor in inflation you'll get a higher number but... Here is another take on it from Steve NoVA from the MLHH board: "As for the price of cutting it off, I think I considered that at one point. I decided that if an employer were to ask for it, I'd reply "yes" under the condition that they pay me my projected earnings (full salary or regular time+16 hours of overtime for each day on an hourly basis) for the full time it takes to grow back. This seems only fair, since they are asking for control over your life that extends even after you are fired and/or quit, and over your non-working hours also. At present this would be 6+ years, and a princely sum even at minimum wage. ($5.85)(24)(365)(6)=$307,476 San Francisco has set a minimum wage of $9.36, which works out to: $491,961.6 Most people earn *considerably* more, so figures in the millions should be quite common."
